NZ to NY
by lei
I’ve been kinda busy lately getting ready to travel/travelling/sleeping/searching the streets of New York for a coffee plunger. Oh yeah, I’m in New York and yes, good coffee in the morning is high on the priority list (bought my own coffee from home, Roasted Addiqtion, Dark fyi). Got into New York early Thursday morning NYT.
The boyfriend had a meeting in Times Square that same day so I occupied myself with the above. I’m in NYC for a couple of months and I plan to have a good ass time. There are, however, a few things I will be missing. By things, I mean food.
Namely, Dizengoff and Pies. PIES! Also, the amazing coffee from MacGregor Brothers:
When I find the mean places to eat in NY I’ll let you know. Any recommendations from youse fullas?
*On a non-food related note, I liked Natalie Portman’s Oscar acceptance speech where she said, ..’most importantly, my family, my friends, and my love.’ I’m away from my family and friends, but it’s nice to be back with my love.

When you get sick of American food try Tea and Sympathy in Greenwich, if it still there. Its good english style comfort food, bangers and mash, beans on toast…etc
So jealous!
omg Lani – M&M’s world… I’d be in heaven!!! You have to bring me back some of those specialty mixes lol… it all looks so gooooood…

Don’t worry! I can show you the good coffee & GREAT food. NYC has the best food in the world, I promise!

Deli across from the Beacon on the Upper West side has the meanest good food and not too expensive either.
Ashim took me to some real good places to eat – I’ll hit him up and ask him where he took me.
I’ll send you his details too cos he works at Time Magazine but lives in Jersey
Lani,
This is the Korean Fried Chicken place I was talking about. You guys will love it, it’s so good. There are some nice cocktail like things and a spicy crab salad to die for! The decor is pretty cool too, gets quite busy though so either get in there early or just be prepared to wait a little bit
