Stolen Girlfriends Club – Nasty Goreng Spring Collection (runway)

sgccatwalk

Image: Michael Ng

Stolen Girlfriends Club Creative Director, Marc Moore, describes the collection as a mishmash of opposing ideas and themes, call girls and American G.I’s. We got a sneak peak into the Spring collection on Wednesday night, at a huge, vacant and freezing warehouse in Newmarket (if only I could have warmed myself with wine). It felt as though the runway show was split into two themes, the first part had some of my favourite outfits which gave me of a kind of ‘Grown up Girl Scout’ vibe and my girl Shirl said they reminded her of the movie ‘Moonrise Kingdom.’ The second half featured a vibrant leopard print, which also showed up in see through full-length gowns. The highlight of this section being the head to toe orange leopard print jumpsuit and wide brimmed hat and a knee-length zip-off black trench coat. The night also hailed the launch of the MINI PACEMAN, which took its own turn down the runway wearing the SGC ‘Death Moth’ print. More runway pics below, lookbook images coming soon.

models in boohoo + a big ass cake

boomodels5boocake1boomodel1boomodels3boosign

What’s a one year anniversary celebration without some hot models and a big ass cake, right? With boohoo now being the 4th most visited fashion site in Oz & NZ, selling six dresses every minute, I can see why the peeps at boohoo, including its founders Carol and Mahmud, were all down to par-tay for our last night in Sydney. Mix a bunch of kiwis, ozzies and guys and gals from the UK, and a big night will mos def be had. But, conveniently, what goes on tour, stays on tour… shout outs to Courtney from Always, Sometimes, Anytime tho, you’re the man.

But before dancing til the wee hours, we were able to admire pieces from the boohoo ‘Boutique’ and ‘Future Sports’ ranges (due out around July/August) on some stunning models. The Future Sports pieces were some of my faves from the showroom and it was even better seeing them worn IRL. My love for the neon-pink leopard print ensemble grew even more. I’d somewhat overlooked the ‘Boutique’ range at the showing, the collection being darker and a bit more serious, but the dresses got my attention that night. Plus, I’m a sucker for wearing socks with heels, and flower crowns, so that put it over the edge for me. More fash & food pics after the jump xx

boohoo #globalstyler : 90s steeze

boohoo90s1

For my second look as part of the boohoo #globalstyler campaign, I chose to have a bit of fun with 90s style. The trends that always strongly stuck in my mind from that decade are crop-tops and bum-bags. Had to give a shout-out to stonewash, mid-waisted denim too.  The gold chain is probably my fave thing from the whole shoot, it goes so well with the turtle neck & y’all already know how much I love camo jackets. My hair and make-up was inspired by this hot pic of Cindy Crawford.

I hope this inspires more crop-top & bum-bag wearing.

Hey, look it’s me, a Boohoo #GlobalStyler

urbanexplorer2

w00p w00p! I’m so glad I can finally tell you guys about the lil project I did with boohoo for their very cool #GlobalStyler promotion.

Basically, boohoo are giving away the trip of a lifetime, and all you have to do is snap yourself wearing boohoo in your city, holding this nifty speech bubble and upload it to instagram with the hashtag #globalstyler to be in to win. So, go on with your bad selves and get your boohoo selfies on.

To get the competition kicked off, I’m one of a few bloggers from around the globe (I’m international, baby) that has been asked to style three looks based on their key Autumn/Winter 2013 trends. My first look is my take on the ‘urban explorer’ trend :

miss crabb dress x lonely lingerie x omaha

lonley3

The lingerie came first, and then the dress. I’d had my eye on the ‘Lonely’ cutout triangle longline bra, and matching high waist brief for some time and thanks to my first tax return in years, they became mine. While I was paying for the set, I joked that now all I needed was something to show off the bra, and it was suggested that Miss Crabb had the perfect dresses to do just that. I’ve worn this ‘Summertime’ dress so much already, day or night, it is, as the name suggests, the perfect summer dress.I snapped these pics just before spending hours diving over and under waves at Omaha beach. Beauty day, beauty beach.

Win a boohoo outfit !! w00p w00p!

boohoofesty1

Up2? I’m deciding to skip right on past Christmas plans, and putting all my efforts into planning what I’m gonna wear for New Years partying instead. I haven’t quite figured out what I’m doing yet, I have the option of a festival out of town – or a night ON the town with my girls.

I had some fun last night planning out my ‘festie’ outfit with the help of boohoo (Wearing all boohoo errthing). I reckon a pair of denim shorts, a long over-sized top/cardigan/jacket – the key here really is over-sized – and a pair of comfy boots or sneakers will have you set for an all day, all night festival.

But I don’t wanna be the only one having all the fun – I reckon you guys should get amongst as well. That’s why I’m happy to say that Boohoo are letting me give away a full outfit to one of you lovely people. All you have to do is this:

1: Go to the boohoo.co.nz website and put together an outfit of three to four items of clothing you’d love to rock next year.

2: Comment on this post or on my facebook page with what look you’re going for, ‘festie’ or ‘night out’ and copy and paste the links to each of the items you want to win – and Voilà, you’re in the draw!

The competition will end in a week, so get looking and commenting !!

Some of what I’m wearing has sold out, but if you wanted to get a look similar to this, click over here : Paisley denim Hot Pants, black crop top, lace up boots, oversized knit jumper in rust.

Now, to get to planning my ‘night on the town’ outfit. Yep, I’m a dork.

bits & pieces – the week in review

Images: SnapStar

I’ve been sipping on a vodka soda for the last hour and getting distracted by re-runs of the Graham Norton show, which partly explains why it’s taken me so long to post this up. Oh yeah, wattup, that’s me in the AUT Rookie Show, just casually. I was glad to be walking in it, but I also wish I could have just watched from the audience too, it seemed like it’d be a fun show to observe with so many different styles on show.

Yep, what of it?

WHAT ELSE THO? WHAT’S RILLY GOOD THO?

Spasifik Magazine did a feature on me, which you can view on their website here, you can also buy the magazine at all good retailers. Word on the street is you can grab a copy at Mangere Pak’N'Save. w00p!

sequin party dress & ruby heels

I’ve gotten all magpie with my choices in clothing lately, as is evidenced by my new boohoo sequin party dress, from their new Boutique range. This is easily the sparkliest dress I’ve ever owned…well duh, it is entirely covered in sequins.

And I’m utterly with love with my Ruby bonbon heels. That is all. (Images by Penina)

Ruby Resort launches today

I don’t think it’s any secret over these ways that I love me some RUBY (It’s possible I say this every time I write about RUBY, *kanye shrug*). Their first ever Resort collection, made up of 11 pieces with more of a street-wear feel, has been released in stores, and online, today. I am personally very partial to everything they’ve made in the khaki dotted print, especially the little number Alyssa is looking so fly in below. I’m also predicting those orange leopard print skater dresses will fly out the door.

To entice you along to shops today, RUBY is serving refreshing coconut drinks, and for the lucky Auckland and Wellington shoppers some yummy organic ice cream. The first 200 purchases made across their 8 stores will also receive Summer goodie bags. Sweet deal!
